Toyota Venza: Intake Manifold Runner Control Circuit Low (Bank 1) (P2009,P2010)

Toyota Venza Service Manual / 1ar-fe Engine Control / Sfi System / Intake Manifold Runner Control Circuit Low (Bank 1) (P2009,P2010)

DESCRIPTION

The ECM activates the DC motor for the tumble control valve, which opens and closes the tumble control valve. The ECM activates the DC motor based on engine speed, coolant temperature, intake air temperature and other conditions.

DTC No.

DTC Detection Condition

Trouble Area

P2009

Both of the following conditions continue for 1 second (1 trip detection logic):

(a) The output duty of the DC motor for the tumble control valve is 34% or higher.

(b) The current of the DC motor for the tumble control valve is below 0.35 A.

  • Open or short in DC motor for tumble control valve circuit
  • Intake air control valve actuator (for tumble control valve)
  • Intake manifold (DC motor for tumble control valve)
  • ECM

P2010

Either of the following conditions continues for 6 times or more (1 trip detection logic):

(a) The motor drive IC is overcurrent.

(b) The motor drive IC overheats.

MONITOR DESCRIPTION

When the voltage of the DC motor deviates from the standard range, the ECM determines that a malfunction has occurred and outputs a DTC.

CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN

  1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
  3. Turn the Techstream on.
  4. Clear the DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC procedure) (See page ).

  5. Turn the ignition switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.
  6. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the Techstream on.
  7. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / Coolant Temp.
  8. Check that the coolant temperature is 60°C (140°F) or higher.
  9. Wait approximately 10 seconds.
  10. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.
  11. Read the Pending DTCs.

    HINT:

    • If a pending DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.
    • If a pending DTC is not output, perform the following procedure.
  12. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Utility / All Readiness.
  13. Input the DTC: P2009 or P2010.
  14. Check the DTC judgment result.

    Techstream Display

    Description

    NORMAL

    • System normal

    ABNORMAL

    • DTC judgment completed
    • System abnormal

    INCOMPLETE

    • DTC judgment not completed
    • Perform driving pattern after confirming DTC enabling conditions

    N/A

    • Unable to perform DTC judgment
    • Number of DTCs which do not fulfill DTC preconditions has reached ECU memory limit

    HINT:

    • If the judgment result shows NORMAL, the system is normal.
    • If the judgment result shows ABNORMAL, the system has a malfunction.
  15. If the test result is INCOMPLETE or N/A and no pending DTC is output, perform a universal trip and check for permanent DTCs (See page ).

    HINT:

    • If a permanent DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.
    • If no permanent DTC is output, the system is normal.

WIRING DIAGRAM

Refer to DTC P2004 (See page ).

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

HINT:

Read freeze frame data using the Techstream. The ECM records vehicle and driving condition information as freeze frame data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
